Often times, when I have conversations with others about the coaching opportunity, one misconception they have is that you have to be “salesy”. I mean, it was a misconception that I had. But in reality we are always “selling”, we are all sales people. Think of this, have you ever read or left a review on Amazon, have you ever fell in love with a book, a movie, a restaurant, a pair of shoes, etc. that you recommended to others??? That is selling.
However, what makes the difference is being paid for this opportunity. And I feel, what makes people think of it as being salesy, is in the way we get approached . If I’m going to suggest something to you, I’m at least going to find out if it’s something that is going to help YOU or if it’s even something YOU need. I certainly don’t want to “sell” you anything. I don’t want you wasting your time or money if what I have doesn’t serve you.
I get it, I’ve had the people who are just looking to make a buck and don’t even ask first if what they are recommending or offering is even something I want or even NEED. Or those who just stick me in a group without my permission. YUCK!! Those kinds of conversations turn me off & if you aren’t even going to find out if what you have is something I need or want, I will most likely not be interested and not buy what it is you have.
So, while coaching maybe a “network marketing” company, it does not mean that you have to bombard your family & friends. Instead, it’s about having conversations & seeing if what it has to offer can benefit others. After all, the reason I joined was to be able to help others with their health & fitness, the money is just a perk!
