to the Trusteeship Council chamber at #UnitedNations
Headquarters in #NYC
The chamber hosted meetings of the Trusteeship Council, one of the six main organs of the UN, which was established to supervise the administration of trust territories as they transitioned from colonies to sovereign nations. The Council suspended its activities in 1994, when Palau, the last of the original 11 trust territories, gained its independence.
Today the chamber is still used by Member States to hold conferences on topics related to social development, economics and more.
Originally designed by the Danish architect Finn Juhl in 1952, the chamber has been revamped with new furniture by Danish designers Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard. 📷: UN Photo / Manuel Elias
